Beginning Beekeeping


Designed and presented by the Apiary Specialists of Jim ‘n’ I Farms, Inc., this 6-week course offered to help anyone interested in working with managed honey bee hives. The in-class instruction will provide students will a solid understanding of what is involved with keeping honey bees in Missouri. Six classes involved are as follows: (1) Overview of Pollinators and Managed Beekeeping, (2) Bee Anatomy and Social Behavior, (3) Honey Bee History, Hive Options and Equipment, (4) Honey Bee Nutrition, (5) Honey Bee Diseases and Pests, (6) Honey Harvesting, Marketing and Value-Added Products. This is an approved beginning beekeeping course that is a requirement for those desiring to participate in the Bee Academy. (6 Sessions)
